Jesus, Java & Jewels Revelations 7:9-17

Every year on this day, we remember those military service men and women that died while serving a country that, historically speaking, has fought ridiculously among themselves. These men and women made the ultimate sacrifice for us to have the freedom to be our own demise.

Now, I am not trying to start an uprise within my newly published blog because that would go against my purpose of starting it. My blog is serving a purpose...for me and my pursuit of the phrase "life, liberty and happiness." As I am typing, my husband, Jason, stopped and walked over gently wrapping his arms around my shoulders and whispered, "I am proud of you and your daily walk." My response, "I am trying." Much like the lives of our service men and women that died in battle, my daily walk could be over just as quickly and as unexpectedly.

Someday our lives will be nothing more than a memory (as a music lover it is possible that was is a song lyric and I would give credit if I could remember the singer). Our troubles, worries and pain will be a faint memory. We will no longer be consumed by joint pains, backaches, bumps or bruises. Once eternity is in view, everything that once consumed us will be nothing more than a faded memory. No more political unrest, growling stomachs or homelessness, lies, ulterior motives, rebellion...no more disappointments, insecurities or shame...no more wastefulness, thievery or deceit and definitely no more pandemics...to think all of this that continues to go on in a country that uses one day a year to publicly remember those that died fighting for our freedoms so that nothing ever changes.

The only true liberty that we have is knowing that one day we will be free from all of this. My life has a purpose and my purpose is to work diligently on my daily walk so that I am prepared for when that day comes. Our only true freedom comes from the promise that Jesus will ultimately set us free.
