Have you ever heard the phase "gettin' above yer raisin'"? Maybe it's just a southern thing...but when I was little, I was constantly reminded to never "get above your raising"...meaning never forget where you come from. Now I have always considered myself a very bold person...not necessarily in appearance or attitude and definitely not in social classes but more so in my convictions. When someone strives to BE BOLD, I believe they are wanting to present themselves in a confident way much like one that takes risks.
It's hard be confident and take risks when it is so easy to get bogged down by negative comments. My BPFF (best pastoral friend forever) shared his sermon with me and in it he shared the following: do not allow the NOISE of discouragement take priority over God's voice of ENCOURAGEMENT. (take a moment and read it again)... Talk about an "aha" moment...being bold is what this is all about! When I focus my attention on God...and I am not talking only on Wednesday nights or Sunday mornings...I am talking when I am being bold enough to confidently walk in His will and take the necessary risks by putting my FAITH in Him above all...I can stop the noise of discouragement. My BPFF also shared this quote with me...Feel compliments as deeply as you every insults. Again, WOW!
If we become so consumed with all the noise of discouragement and the insults, we will only have an endless supply of unnecessary negative that will slow down our daily walk with Him. When things start to drag me down, I must BE BOLD! When the self-doubts, the what ifs and the worries begin to change my attitude...I must BE BOLD. I am thankful that even when I forget to acknowledge all the things that God has done for me...He is still there with me. When I forget to be bold and allow the negative noise to surface, it only separates me and my faith from Him...God is always there and God has always taken care of me. I must BE BOLD... to confidently keep my faith and focus on Him.
