Jesus, Java & Jewels - Proverbs 12:15

Well, it has been almost a year…not since my last post even though it does seem that way…but it has been almost a year since I decided to start this journey of sharing my daily devotion and my relationship with Jesus. And like I always say that I am perfectly imperfect, my posting of my so called daily devotion has become no longer daily. Now I have still been working on my relationship with Him, but my responsibility to my dedicated followers has not been consistent.

So today, I am changing that by recognizing my FIRST fan mail! Yes my friends…I have received a gift of this special mug from an anonymous follower. At first, I wasn’t sure how to take it… I could only think of sarcasm or just plain hateful. And then I thought about Proverbs 12:15 which says that the way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice.

Over the last six weeks, I worked on a project that required me to listen way more than offer advice. Listening is a lot harder than you think. When you listen to those that are competent in their abilities, it increases your own knowledge. Even when we think we know everything about a topic there is always room to learn even more. Folks that seem to be “know it alls”, end up knowing even less than they think. When we allow ourselves to be humble and listen to others, we can avoid many pitfalls in life.

Today, I pray that I remain humble and that I teach our children by example that humility far out weighs our knowledge. I want my heart to remain open to those I encounter and consider the advice they have to give.

As for my #1 anonymous follower, hear this…your life is already changing because you have allowed my words to affect you. Hopefully you will listen to this as well…after much research William Shakespeare never said that quote…possibly Oscar Wilde but not Shakespeare but I thank you from the bottom of my perfectly imperfect heart for taking time to send me this fantastic mug as a reminder that my light will continue to shine for others.
