Jesus, Java & Jewels Genesis 38:1 - 26

Every Sunday, our family gathers at our home for Sunday lunch. In the beginning, we started with eight people and now there is a minimum of 10 and at times even as many as 14. May hope is that it continue to grow. It is a wonderful way to fellowship with folks. We have all received many blessings from this gathering. Before we sit down to lunch, we always hold hands and form a circle and then someone will pray.

One Sunday a few weeks ago during our prayer, I felt the need to check on the least one to make sure he had his eyes closed and head down. I know I am not the only mama that has done this, right? At any rate, much to my surprise the least one was following protocol, but my youngest daughter wasn't. I was shocked as she is typically the one leading the prayer. Instantly, I did what any mama would have done...thinking to myself "who does she think she is fooling?" Then with the arch my eyebrow and my lips pursed I gave her the look which meant "close'em" and then I went back to my prayer position.

It was in that moment, I felt a nudge from God and thought to myself "who was she fooling?...hmmm...better yet who am I fooling!" I had one eye opened...checking to make sure my kids were praying, looking at the bread in the oven and hoping that it wasn't going to burn and wondering if the prayer would be over before the entire meal was cold...now, remember I am perfectly imperfect.

When I realized what I had done, I immediately closed my eyes and began to pray internally for everyone in that circle...unfortunately, I only covered four out of the fourteen before the "amen!"

(While the picture is a little blurry, it is a perfect picture of the two...guilty of keeping one eye open.)
