Jesus, Java & Jewels Ephesians 4:22-24

A while back, the co-op power company sent their members an energy efficient light bulb to test out. When we received ours, I was all excited to try something new that could possibly save us a little on our power bill. Unfortunately, it didn't work...well, I take that back...let's just say it didn't work for me.

At first, I was skeptical but thought I will try it..why not. So, I put it in the fixture going down to our basement, turned it on and then shut the door....not realizing that it was "warming up" to its full brightness. I will be the first to admit that I leave all the lights in the house on...all the time. My husband is just the opposite. He will turn them off before I even have a chance to leave the room...it drives me crazy.

So, while he is home he is constantly running up and down the basement stairs turning the light on and off...clearly not giving the bulb time to reach its full potential. I finally was fed up with not having the brightness that I needed...so, I replaced that bulb with one that I knew I could rely on and never looked back! It was clearly at a cost though because our power bill continued to suffer.

Some people have a certain flair about them...I should know I live with one. My husband radiates this brightness when he enters a room. He doesn't have to say anything...the brightness from within just illuminates the room. It's not gradual either...it's a bold and vibrant light that when received by other's it has the ability to change the way you feel in a positive way..bringing you joy.

This same light can be in all of us. This light is a gift from God that we received when we chose to walk with Him in our daily life. I believe little children have this light and as they grow closer to that age of accountability that light grows dim and sometimes goes completely away...trust me I have seen it in two of ours so far...then it gradually comes back own and then the ways of this world slowly turns it off again...until that moment in which they realize that it isn't working in their life the way it should and they finally say enough is enough! They remove the unreliable and inconsistent dimming darkness and replace it with a brightness that will always be with them. This light is joy...it is when you ask for Jesus to come into your heart...starting that relationship with God that you work on everyday, building on it, protecting it because surrendering to Him gives you hope and joy. If your light is unreliable and growing dim...remove it and replace it...So, you too can BE THE LIGHT.
