Jesus, Java & Jewels - 1 Thessalonians 4:11

I believe that I have written a similar devotion a while back, but this is definitely one worth repeating. With four kids, a dog, homeschooling, a husband and multiple side hustles, it is hard to find time to sit and enjoy my front porch...my happy place. It is a place where I can sit, read my bible, enjoy a cup of java and take in not only the beautiful works of God that surround me, but to also enjoy the quietness.

Oh how I long to escape the world and noise around me throughout different times of the day. I recall a commercial of a woman stand with her eyes closed, while the world around her seemed to continue in overdrive, but yet she had a subtle smile across her face as though she wasn't even there...her mind fantasized of a peaceful place where she could relax and then she woke up and shouted, "Calgon, take me away!"

Seriously, who needs Calgon when you have Jesus! I have learned that when you have Jesus in your heart and you work towards being a better disciple of His, you will receive His peace and you can carry it with you where ever you go. When I can get to that place of quietness, regardless of where I am physically, I begin to gain this powerful strength within my soul...it is a renewed strength in the Spirit. By shutting out the noise around me, I have the ability to hear God in my heart and mind. I am able to find the peace that I so desire.

Even if I am sitting and waiting for the kids to come out of swim or for play practice to be complete, I can escape to that place of tranquility so that I can get back to the source of my peace. My peace comes from God and with His help I will find all the clarity that I need for my life.
